Today we...

Language Arts:

  • 1st Period:
    • Character PowerPoint with a focus on Protagonists and Antagonists in stories.
    • Students read paragraphs 5-9 of our story.
    • Setting the Purpose: After reading paragraphs 5-9, could Chapter 9 be considered the climax?
  • 2nd Period:
    • Finished charting the definitions of "Priscilla and the Wimps" vocabulary.
    • Word Hunt in "Priscilla and the Wimps".
    • Character PowerPoint with a focus on Protagonists and Antagonists in stories.
  • Our words for this lesson are:

Math:
  • 1st Period:
    • Students completed and reviewed the Week-By Week Essentials.
    • Students completed Order of Operations word problems, focusing on writing the numerical expression, and solving them.
  • 2nd Period:
    • Students had an EXTENSIVE check and review of the Order of Operations homework from last night.
Science:
  • 5th Period:
    • Discussed and  measured volume of a liquid.
  • 6th Period:
    • Reviewed Length, and discussed volume of a liquid.

Social Studies:
  • 5th Period:
    • Students answered the Essential Question: "How do I define a region in terms of its physical and human characteristics?"
    • Students compared the 4 different regions of Ecuador using a graphic organizer.
  • 6th Period:
    • Students completed the theme: PLACE.
    • They continued reading, "Ecuador...WOW!".

Homework:
  • Math:
    • 1st Period: 
      • Finish Order of Operations Word Problems
      • Accelerated Math problems due TOMORROW!!!
      • Study for Order of Operations assessment. 
    • 2nd Period:
      • Practice Workbook page 5 (odd)
      • Accelerated Math problems
  • Language Arts:
    • Reading Log
    • Vocabulary: "Think-Tac-Toe":
      • Students are to complete vocabulary activities using the words from "Priscilla and the Wimps" (see list above).
      •  9 choices are given (based on Multiple Intelligences) on the choice board.
      • Students are to complete 3 (1st period) or 4 (2nd period) activities out of the 9.
      • These activities are due FRIDAY, October 1st
    • VOCABULARY QUIZ ON FRIDAY!!!
  • Science:
    • 5th: Study notebook pages 10-15 for Thursday's test!!!
    • 6th: Page 15 in their Science Interactive Notebook (Volume)
    • SCIENCE TEST ON THURSDAY!!
      • This test will assess length (cm), mass (g) and volume (ml).
      • Students should use their notes and activities in their Interactive Notebook as a study guide.
      • We will play a review game tomorrow!!
  • Social Studies:
    • None

  1. F.Y.I... Students who did NOT turn in their Order of Operations puzzle (1st period) need to turn it in TOMORROW (-10 points)!!!!!!!! If it is not turned in tomorrow, it will be a 0!!-Mrs. Horne
