Thursday, 9/23/10

Today we...
Language Arts:

  • Students continued learning techniques to use before they read a story. This will help increase comprehension. 
  • We discussed our new story, "Priscilla and the Wimps".
  • Students were introduced to their vocabulary and completed a "Vocabulary Rating Chart." This chart indicated if they had any prior knowledge about each word.
  • Students will revisit their chart after we read the story and complete vocabulary activities and rate their level of knowledge again.
  • Our words for this lesson are:

Math:
  • 1st Period: Students viewed an Order of Operation PowerPoint and practiced this skill.
  • 2nd Period: Students continued practicing Powers and Exponents. Based on observation, students need more practice before assessing.
Science:Social Studies:
  • 5th Period: Students discussed and completed activities based on the Geographical theme: PLACE.
  • 6th Period: Students started activities based on the Geographical theme: LOCATION.

Homework:
  • Math:
    • 1st Period: Practice Workbook pg. 7
    • 2nd Period: Continue to study for Powers and Exponents assessment.
  • Language Arts:
    • Reading Log: DUE TOMORROW!!!
    • Read "Priscilla and the Wimps"
      • Students may log this as their entry for their Reading Log.
  • Science:
    • 5th: Finish Classifying and Interpreting the Growth of a Bean Plant worksheets if not completed in class!
    • 6th: Finish Classifying and Interpreting the Growth of a Bean Plant worksheets if not completed in class!
  • Social Studies:
    • None
