October 25-29

EOQ Testing:
  • This week, students will take the Reading and Mathematics End of Quarter assessments. The schedule is as follows:
    • Monday: Reading Comprehension
    • Tuesday: Math Calculator Active
    • Wednesday: Math Calculator Inactive
    • Thursday: Make-up Testing for absent students
  • Please make sure your child is at school every day and on time. Testing will begin around 7:40.
  • These testing sessions will be administered like the EOG assessments.
  • Please encourage your child to eat a good breakfast and do their best. THEY CAN DO IT!!
Homework:
  • Homework will vary due to a modified schedule.
  • There will be NO Reading Log this week.
  • There may be Science homework.This will depend on how much of the assignments students complete in class.
  • Please check your child's agenda for nightly assignments!!
"The Witches":
  • Students will watch this movie on Thursday. This is based on the book by Roald Dahl.
  • Students may bring snacks such as popcorn (already popped), pretzels, Sun Chips, or fruit (no candy, chocolate, chips, etc.). Students can also bring water or juice.
  • Thank you to all parents for signing the permission forms and sending them in!!

End of the Quarter:
  • Thursday is the end of 1st Quarter.
  • Students will receive their progress reports Monday (10/25).
  • Report cards will come home the 2nd week of November.
  • You will receive notification of your conference time on Monday, November 1st.
Don't forget...NO SCHOOL FRIDAY!!

  • 2nd Period:
    • Continued Conflict PowerPoint

Math:
  • 1st Period:
    • Variable Expressions and Equations
  • 2nd period:
    • Students wrote and evaluated Variable Expressions
Science:
  • 5th and 6th Period:
      • Ecology PowerPoint
        • Focused on Terms for our Ecology Unit
        • Discussed the Advantages and Disadvantages of taking an animal out of their natural environment
Social Studies:
  • 5th and 6th Period: Worked on Political and Physical maps of South America


Homework:

      • Some students need to finish or fix "Think-Tac-Toe" vocabulary activities.
      • Bring a composition notebook by Friday!!
    • Students will have a Literature Test Friday. The following items are on the assessment. In parenthesis are resources to use:

Language Arts:
  • 1st Period:
    • Finished Plot diagram for "Priscilla and the Wimps".
    • Discussed how the conflict and resolution relate to one another.
  • 2nd Period:
    • Began Plot diagram for "Priscilla and the Wimps."
Math:
  • 1st Period:
    • Students worked on writing and solving equations.
  • 2nd period:
    • Students explored Variable Expressions.
Science:
  • 5th and 6th Period:
    • Process Skill: Observing
      • Students were asked to use their sense of sight and observe a mall scene.
    • Introduction to Ecology (PowerPoint and Vocabulary Chart)
Social Studies: NONE (Continued Math Lessons)
